jz often poo poos nihilisms that fail to botom out in attack now style insurrection affinity groups. In other words, active nihilism is the starting point; and then, even though ITS is active and nihilist, one must be primarily on board with building some kind of society loosely related to anarchism, but not of the tradiational left. Its very difficult to parse this meaning because it would seem that nihilists of a more active stripe would quickly dismiss primitivism as being primarily leftist. jz hasn't said much to counter this except to point to some kind of meaninglessness, the sign behind the nihilist signified. It seems obvious to most nihilists I know that avoiding pessimism (aka., passive nihilism). Aragorn! tries to provide a few concepts to bleed open the difference between active/passive in his Attentat. The irony here is that his work and jz's are actually closer than jz's rhetoric would suggest.

I shared Z & K's confusion re: "nihilism": One of the features of postmodernity is that shared meaning has been obliterated. We're all Carroll's Caterpillar now: Words means exactly what we, individually, say they mean, no more and no less and everyone else is an idiot who needs to "read a book" if they don't understand one's own private vocabulary. So nihilism means whatever a nihilist says it means at the moment he says it, no more, no less, and no questions please.
